There's Nothing Sweet About Me

S
I finally got around to taking some pictures of the things I have in the store, yay!
Mostly handmade headbands, but a few vintage babygems mixed in as well! And a shot of the tank tops I made, as well as the little black mini skirt. Nothing too special but small accomplishments for me all the same :)

And here is a random shot of the store, with our lovely lime green jewelry display case, and some dwindling scarves...

and lastly, a picture of an outfit I wore last week at some point. Something rather simple for me, but I felt like a little cupcake all day. A bright yellow one. with ribbons.

Madonna Live

S

1. She was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Her name should be placed next to the word 'show-woman' on dictionaries all over the world.
2. The highlight was without a doubt 'Like A Prayer' mashed up with Meck's 'Feels like'. Freshest old thing I've heard in ages. (check out clip from her Montenegro appearence http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bi80THfrJic&feature=related ).
3. Danced and sang for 2 hours, did not interact much with the audience (which was ok I thought), did not really get the whole point of the Britney-video. I'm promoting her this way because?
4. Why-oh-why there was no encore? The screens featured GAME OVER and game over it was.

Athens was 'Sticky & Sweet' tour's final european destination. Next up, Miami on the 26th of November.

Last night Mackenzie and I went over to her friend Andrew's new apartment and then to a show at The End to see some of our friends play. It was a lovely evening but I will say that my feet were killing me by 1 am.

Ticket Anyone?

S
I could go to Madonna OOOR ...sell my ticket and tour Australia.

OMG! This is half the fun. Not only people are selling Madonna tickets for stupid prices, stupid* people actually buy them.

(*i would have said desperate fans, but NO MY DEAR. What for a fan are you if you do not already have a ticket?? if you did not qeue, stay stuck in front of your screen whilst pulling a sickie, beg, steal and borrow to get it minutes after the release? Afff..)
a) AUCTION IT: auction your €80 ticket, get €600 for it and you could be spending Xmas in the Big Apple. If you have two tickets, even better, you get a bonus €600 to have a blast at 5th Avenue.
b) PLACE AN ADD: why auction and make unknown profits? Sell it. Place an add and name any price you like, i.e. say €400 and get the new i-phone.
AND THE WINNER IS...

c) SHAMELESSLY SELL IT FOR 8 TIMES THE PRICE. Because you're worth it:)

O.K. seriously now. Seeing Madonna performing live is priceless. I'd rather live on crisps than miss this!! (which is what I'm doing fyi, tempted as i am to sell my mate's ticket and buy tickets to go see her on each and every remaining tour location)

Sticky & Sweet Athens

S

Got one of these yet?
Damn right i'm going! To quote Robbie Williams, Face it she's Madonna.
The whole town is pumping up for this Saturday's live concert, with Madonna coming to Athens for the first time ever. Like a vehhh-rgin.
On Thursday 25th, greek visual/street artist George Callas is officially saying Kiss my art, Madonna (Justify my art). He will be featuring his paintings in his first solo show at Gallery Spilioti Projects in Athens. The theme of Mr. Callas’ work focuses exclusively on her pop majesty, Madge. This is a good one to start with.

“Kiss my art, Madonna” - Opening : Thursday 25 September 2008, 1 Sofokleous Street, Athens - exhibition ends on the 10th of October 2008.

And there's more...

The notorious (to some) Villa Mercedes is hosting a 'wannabe Madonna' competition at a themed party on the same night. Get your heart-shaped glasses on, do nasty things to your hair and show them how it's done.

On your way there play 'Like A Prayer' in the car in full volume, and sing it like a maniac too.
(WHEN U CALL MY NAAAAME it's little PRAYER, i'm down ON MY KNEEEEEES...etc.)

Let me also inform you of Madonna's tour playlist so you can download the lyrics :p

Intro/Candy Shop - Beat Goes On - Human Nature - Vogue - Video Interlude - Into The Groove - Heartbeat - Borderline - She s Not Me - Music - Video Interlude - Devil Wouldn t Recognise You - Spanish Lesson - Miles Away - La Isla Bonita/Lela Pala Tute - Romanian folk interlude - You Must Love Me - Video Interlude - 4 Minutes - Like A Prayer - Ray Of Light - Hung Up - Give It To Me.

Are you getting Into The Groove yet?

S

We walked arm in arm, but I didn't feel his touch

S
So my musical obsession at the moment is with Bat for Lashes. Lately I have been throwing myself into anything whimsical and fairytale-like, and songs like Horse and I and What's a Girl to Do? have been perfect for it. I have had her album for some time now, but hadn't gotten around to listening to it until now, and now I have it on repeat. I love how Natasha Khan translates her style of music so wonderfully into her style as well, especially with her face makeup. Who doesn't love a good sparkle on the eyes?

S

The return of the supermodels defies age issue?

S
Age seems to be no issue in the fashion world. Kate Moss is in the cover of the latest UK Vogue (yet she also did March 2008). Linda Evangelista is fronting Prada Autumn/Winter 2008/09 ad campaign, so as Claudia for Chanel, Eva Herzigova for Louis Vuitton and Naomi for Yves Saint Laurent, Linda is also doing L'oreal ad (because you're worth it!), while Christy Turlington return to Maybelline. Kate is also in Rimmel London long way back since (who can't forget the famous line - Get the London look).

Does these means that the SUPERMODELS are BACK? I bet.. yeay!!

S

Getting touchy feely with the phone....

S
With the debut of LG Prada phone last 2 years, it seems that touch screen are the way forward in the phone(y) world. Why not? Coz nowadays the size of the screen does matter especially when the phone is no longer just a phone - it's an essential AIO (all-in-one) accesories! Be it as a camera, video player or browsing the web on the go, having a small screen should never be compromised. When the buttons took the room for the screen, having 'touchy feely' is the way it should be.. (hey it rhymes!).

2007 saw touchscreen phones flock the market. The much anticipated iPhone saw people queueing outside Apple Store in Regent St for almost 48 hours before the phone is released. Then there's a biggest rival between LG and Samsung - with LG's Prada chic look (but s**t photo quality) and Viewty having more megapixel and responsive touch (but big in size...), while Samsung offers the like of Instinct, Tocco and Omnia with 'style' in mind (and substance?) .

And the latest to join in the band is the newly released Google Phone - codenamed G1, yesterday. The press reported it would rival iPhone 3G, but for fashionistas... I really doubt it. The phone maybe great in 'substance' , but in style? ... Sorry. Look like s**t to me. LOL!

Me? I'm just happy with my Samsung Armani. Small, skinny, sexy and screams 'designer'... what else could I asked for? (Yet, still waiting for iPhone nano debut before Christmas)

Film is in Fashion

S
Purple's in fashion, recycling's in fashion, blogging is in fashion. You know what else? Filming.

Which is not bad AT ALL. Especially when it comes with a challenge. Here's the deal: you are given a topic, a line and a character and you have to make a movie out of them in 48 hours. Sleep or no sleep.

Just make a movie, out of scratch. Piece of cake to you it should be. You use youtube.com, you've watched so many other online videos, and admit it, you've said so many times "I would have done it bettah".

Carrie Bradshaw had a movie after her and she's not even real:)

Ok, here's a test:
Category - Drama
Item - 14cm heels
Character - Girl Next Door
Line - "oops i did it again"

Got it? Good. Next step, enroll at http://48hourfilm.gr/simetoxi.php. Clock starts ticking on the 31st of October.

The good news: your movie (and you) could be travelling to the U.S. to compete for the title "Best 48 Hour Film of 2008".
The ...costly news: enrolment means you have to pay 135€ (or 175€ apparently if you are late - after the 10th of Oct. that is).

Oh, and the test, I made it up ok? It's not gonna be as shallow as that. It's just gonna be as playful (i hope).

Are you gonna give it a go?

tic...toc..tic...toc...REC.

Recycle Fashion...

S
Everyone talks about seasonless fashion these days. To be honest, talking about it is becoming fashion in its own right: "scary, seasons are slowly fading into one, have you seen Prada's winter collection? It's actually bikini tops and t-shirts" and other scary comments of this nature.

Well, some do nothing about it. Some, recycle tins, glass and plastic. And some, have thought of recycling the fastest consuming products of our days: clothes and accessories.

You've worn it once, worn it twice and now it is sitting there on your shelf occupying precious space you could be using to store...what you've just bought. Recycle it for God's sake!

What's Mine Is Yours one way to do it. Swap, sell or buy. That's the simple concept so that nothing goes to waste. Check it out, i love it: http://www.whatsmineisyours.com/ 13,000 eco-conscious registered users.

For those of you living on or visiting the rainy island UK, also check out the Affordable Vintage Fashion Fair http://www.myspace.com/vintagefashionfairs and add them on facebook too http://www.new.facebook.com/group.php?gid=5002117858 .

If only we could organise something like this in Athens too...
I say I start with a garage sale.

Happy Monday dahhlings.

Where is my mind?

S

i am a bit grumbly today. Well, yes and no. Certain things are making me smile. However, I am a sad sad little girl that i missed Jenny last night. oh it pains me to even think about it. So let's pretend it never even happened, mmk? Also, I keep forgetting to bring my camera into the shop so I can take pictures of all the pretty little things I have for sale. On Saturday I finished a black mini skirt, with 2 vintage brass buttons on the side. So cute. If no one buys it soon I may snatch it back up for myself....also I keep stealing glances at the white and gray fur headband I made, because I think it will be the perfect winter accessory this year... so here I am listening to the bird and the bee in the store and putting off my loads of homework. but i am still smiling about things. I'm getting coffee later with mackenzie and jena at Bongo, yay!

so I am trying out the whole wearing the scarf as a bow around my neck thing. However, I think it needs to be a bit longer.. It still looks cute, no? Also, I swear I do not have bags under my eyes that big, I mean I was up late last night but not that late...some weird shadow that photobooth picked up?

A beacon of white blonde light

S
So recently I have realized that I am insanely attracted to anything with a blonde head of hair. Something about platinum blonde tresses just completely endears me to someone, whether celebrity, designer, or just some random girl on the street. I was perusing nylon's website and came across pictures of a model named Portia Freeman. Voluminous blonde curls. I'm in love. or lust. or something. Not to mention the outfits she is wearing in these photos made me melt just a little bit more...

I do believe she is rumored to be seeing Pete Doherty, which makes me love her slightly less, but just let me look at her hair again and all is forgotten :) ok i'm starting to sound a bit deranged...

PS. my new lovely friend Hannah dyed my hair last night and it looks fabulous. A lighter, ashier toned blonde...i'm on the road to being that coveted white blonde once more!

Trendspotting: Boot-ilicious baby!

S
I know that my trainer days has long gone... I dunno why now that I hate to wear sport shoes. I'd rather wear plimsols instead. Eventhough some are comfy, they aren't stylo to me. With the nightmare that I had last year wearing Nike shoes that make my feet aching like hell.. really I had to say no. Yet, I manage to get myself the Adidas Samba black n white trainer for 20 quid (original price 60 pound) during summer sale coz I like the simplicity of the shoe. What can I say, last year is when I'm really poor...

But now I can't resist wearing boots. Whether it's Chelsea boot (with the elastic kinda enclosure), to zip-up or even my hi top Converse. Love it. Plus, it hold my feet together and better yet no one will ever step on my back feet when I'm walking (a nightmare when wearing low cut shoe). Love the ankle boots. I'm wearing my Zara Chelsea all the time, it almost worn out! Love the pointed toe boots. And the high heel even boost my height (My Fendi's has 2 inch heel - making me more than 5' 10"..extra extra point!). Boots look really hot with jeans. (But careful if u're having a very long walk!)

Hmm.. thinking of getting new ones. But some with pigskin leather..damn I can't wear them? Topman, Office, Barrats.. could u make the lining with calf leather, please? :(

1. Razor Boot £130.00 @ ALL SAINTS.
2. ADALBERO Zipup Boot £90.00 @ ALDO.
3. ALICANTE Boot £85.00 @ DUNE.
4. GIANNI BARBATO Croc Embossed Low Boots 563 EURO @ LUISAVAROMA.
5. Leather Chelsea Boot £45.00 @ ASOS.
6. XINKLE Boot £80.00 @ FAITH.

Trendspotting: Check craze!! (again...)

S

Oh dear! Now I'm really falling into the fashion trend trap! Suddenly in my email, River Island is giving the headline "CHECK CRAZE". Man.. I know that I bought that Burton stone check shirt, and that Burberry tote. But am I really trend maniac? Ya uh, I guess... I have crossover. I've become ONE of them. LOL! Btw, i love them..so who cares....

What appears on Burton site... and what appears ON me!
