Westwood Friday ahead

S
"What changed our lives forever was when Malcolm had the idea to sell rock 'n roll records to trendy customers".
- Vivienne Westwood

(on the success of their first store called Let It Rock - 1971, then Too Fast To Live Too Young To Die - 1972, then SEX - 1974, 430 Kings Road)

The designer who made punk music into clothes in the '70s (or was it her clothes that made punk music?), the woman who stood knickerless in front of the Queen whilst receiving her OBE, one of the most extravagant fashion figures, Vivienne Westwood will be in Greece this Friday showing "Anglomania".

"Anglomania" is a diffusion line, created in 1997 to satisfy a younger, more casual audience. Main line is "Vivienne Westwood" (show held in Paris). There's also Vivienne Westwood Red Label (showing in London).

Here's what her shows look like (but don't expect anything like this in Athens):

*Love the part where it says her goodie-bag's content was petitions and donation forms*

Her name is associated with these guys (most of you already know but I enjoyed the clip):

Back in the '70s she made (destroyed) clothes for them and shaped the way an entire generation and music movement dressed. For this alone, she's my hero.

Now don't you do anything foolish and go to AXDW in tees featuring pins on the mouth of Queen Elizabeth and policemen snogging. That was almost 40 years ago. Remember she recently did Carrie's wedding dress for SATC, the movie...
