Channelling Afghan Into McQueen

S

Seriously, how many of us got the Afghan scarves? (or some of you call it desert scarf) If you don't then you are not embracing the essence of street style. I know I do, and have not one but two. One from Zara that has small checks design. And this one that I bought almost 2 years now at just £2 from Primark @ Hammersmith. (yeah, that Primark where Jourdan Dunn was spotted and made her a top model)

Btw, I have been neglecting this scarf for quite sometime since I think it's a bit chav now to wear. Coz every chavs that I met out there on the street wear one. Plus it's kinda big too and get a bit messy when I wore it.

So, there I am while I was about to give it away I spotted something interesting on it. I said, "Hey, isn't that houndstooth design splashes all over it?" Indeed, it is. I dunno why I haven't realized it before? And isn't that houndstooth is becoming big; I mean - MASSIVE - this season after Alexander McQueen showcased his collection last Fall/Winter 09 collection? Which is also copied by the highstreet stores like in Mango and Hobs jackets, and even John Lewis' poncho.

Suddenly there's a eureka moment. So, I started folding it twice, making it flat. Kinda horizontal, if you may - so that the houndstooth is really the dominant factor here. For it being quite large serves well, sort of a blessing in disguise - making the length to be just perfect.

Next, I wrapped it around the neck - a bit like Dolce & Gabbana FW'09 style - by letting the end stay put inside the jacket. The outcome? Splendid. Out with the chavs, in with the chic! When I wore it a couple of times for the past two weeks, people can't help noticing. Probably somehow I inspired them to look things in a new direction, I suppose? Now I got my own version of McQueen myself! Ahaks... :)
