Simple things are always the best. Keep it minimum and with a tad of pattern which is not too overpowering, it'll remain a true classic. Looking at the lookbook of Club Monaco, I just love how the clothes appear. What I like most is the Fairisle designs which is far better than anyone has ever done in the highstreet. Not tacky but very sophisticated.
The color pallette of monochrome really look urban and chic. Mentioning Fairisle, I just love the ties with square end. Very nice. Though it's full of pattern, it doesn't appear too busy or too street look. And the jumpers and tweed jacket? Mmm... luscious.
Too bad they're not on this other part of Atlantic. Otherwise.... :)
