Etc... Etc...The Housekeeper, The Glam and The Gucci...

S

Today I've gotta play the housekeeper. Or a maid. Or a landlord. Or, even a babysitter, whichever one you wanna call it. Coz my big bro left me with his kids to me since he gotta go somewhere quite far to the city. While he and my sis in-law are away and kids are still at school - which I have to fetch later on - I am practically alone in this big fat house for a couple of hours to come. With 5 bedrooms and 4 living rooms - this house indeed is too humungous for a single guy to live. Yet alone to take care of by myself!

Anyway, I've gotta do the dishes and it took me quite sometimes to finish 'em all. You have no idea how many of 'em in the sink though only five people living in this house! Yet, since nobody else around and me hate seeing that plates and cups and pots and pans piling up in the sink, who else gonna jump in to do it. But hey, it's not a problem coz I'm used to it now since living by myself back in my bedsit in London or at my own house in the West Coast, washing dishes is now a routine chore. Lol! And cleaning up the house too ...phew, that's a big task indeed. It took almost to late noon to complete. Huhu... Oh, you think I'm gonna cook? Nah... I just buy some takeaway from a nearby restaurant. Easy peasy and cheap - and the most important, it's fast! :)

After lunch, it's time for me to sit back and relax - taking a sip of the strawberry tea that I bought from the highlands a couple of days back. It's delish. If in London, usually around this time - about 3 or 4 at noon - I'll go and grab my coffee at Nero or Costa, but in here - I just 'DIM' - do it myself. Not coffee - but tea. I dunno whether I've turned into an English now. Ahaks!

Oh, while having tea with some choc bread, I pulled out the new mag that I just bought. It's Glam for men with one of Malaysia's most famous fashion designer - Bernard Chandran - on the cover. Bernard has his own fashion house which he's established quite long time ago (more than 20 years!), and even have a shop in London. His brand is quite big in the country, but some other big name celebs also has been spotted wearing his creations like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Estelle and Tori Amos. I like his clothes coz it's kinda fusion of east meet west, especially when he used oriental fabric like batik, songket and Thai silk which he made it into evening gowns and cocktail dresses. And in that Glam spread, Bernard wears his own designs. Isn't it great - to wear what you've created yourself?

Oh, I forgot to tell you that in this month's issue it features the London fashion scene! Kind of, coz literally they went to London Fashion Week before that (which is...ages ago?) and do the photoshoot with Bernard around the fashion capital. Btw, man... it's like the issue is dedicated to myself - yeah, me living in London at large for a couple of years and leaving all the memories behind - and suddenly Glam did the London editorial in it. Isn't it ironic plus nostalgic but splendid! Thank you Glam. :)

I can say that though this mag is in local language, but it's one of the best men's fashion mag I've read. The editorials, the accessories featured, the fashion spread and the happenings like fashion week and other event gotta do with glamming up - this mag is fantastic! I think now I have to retrieve my bad perception on the local men's fashion scene. It's not as bad as I thought it to be. =)

Talking about fashion spread, boy... I can't believe that everyone is wearing designer labels. Name it; Louis Vuitton, Versace, Lanvin, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana ...etc...etc. And Gucci! Like this local funnyman in Malaysia. I am fuming with envy (a good 'fuming' btw) when I see that guy wearing a Gucci sneakers!! The Gucci 'GSB9' hi-top sneakers with clip details for Spring/Summer 2010! Not fair! How can this guy who is so very the village boy (sorry, I'm using the local slang here) wear that shoes before me!? Unfair! Not fair! Unfair! (triple, quadraple repeat of 'unfair'). But anyhow, if he looks good in it - I know I will too. Ahaks! :)

(But, I do love his jacket, btw)

And know what? That Gucci trainers is not only worn by him. It's also being featured on another page in the fashion spread too. The 'GSB9' sneakers in white with grey strappy clip details. It looks great though I think the black one is better coz it's less tacky.

But anyway, Glam. I love the mag and I think I'm gonna be their monthly subscriber without a doubt. To support the local men's fashion scene. Who knows I could be one of the contributing writers one day? (Ha! Keep on dreaming!).

Ooops, I've gotta go. My niece has just called to fetch her from school. 'Come and get me here!' she said in the phone. Okay... I'm on my way, dear. And I'm wearing my Gucci boots. :)
