Late Spring 2001 - that's the first time I stepped into Ikea. That was after receiving the free Spring/Summer 2001 catalog left at my doorstep in South Ealing, I decided to take a peek of what the store got to offer. And I visited Ikea @ Croydon, London - at Ampere's Way to be exact. I have to say I was quite stunned upon seeing the store, never expected that it creates such a cult for all people who stepped into it. It was then, things started to snowballing - I've became one of the cult members too. Almost everything in my hostel that time (except the furniture, which is owned by the uni) - they were all Ikea's. Someone asked me why? Maybe becoz they got such a quality stuff at cheap prices by which that time is what us, the student, afford to buy anyway. Just imagine a good quality double duvet cover is less than a tenner - with great fabric which don't worn through the years. Isn't that a steal?
So, through the years I can say I've collected bit by bit on Ikea stuff. And the best part is, being an Ikea Friends and Ikea Family member whatever purchase I did using the cardmember, the points collected can always be turned into Ikea vouchers. Sometimes I got a different price for similar item purchased by a non-cardmember. Brilliant.
So, voila... this is how an Ikeaholic home looks like. I know it's not that great, but still... it's simple! Isn't that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication? (That's by Leonardo da Vinci, fyi)
