Menswear 101

S
I think I've come a long way when it comes to fashion. From having a hideous wardrobe collection, an only-three-pair-of shoes man and a messanger-bag person - to the exploding, acceptably okay clothes, with tons of shoes for all occasions and loads of accessories which now has no place to put; I can say I'm quite proud of where my style and trend journey has taken me. And thanks to all the tried-and-tested method that I've discovered along the way which is quite cumbersome, sometimes hit-and-miss; all for the sake of looking good. Not just good but great. Not to look like a geek who stuck in the basement for ages and know nothing on what's happening to the world out there; but stepping out of the zone and going to another level of style which I never knew I could achieve. And sometimes it's quite funny when I read in some men's magazine and come across question being asked by some blokes like 'what is a cardigan?' or 'what's the right way to wear a blazer?', coz I've been there before! Lol.

Anyway, the journey is still going on and I'm still learning new things everyday on what works and what's not on me. At least now I know what I should have in my wardrobe - the thing that I considered must-haves for me to wear regardless of seasons. Yeah, I do follow some trends sometimes - but the thing is I always ask myself "can I still wear it after this season ends? Can I see it's longevity?". These are the kinda questions that will ensure whether I should buy some items and still keep it in my closet even for years to come. Something which ensure it will become a staple, a classic piece, or even my own neo-vintage as years gone by. :)

Mentioning must-haves, My-wardrobe.com has come up with their version of 'Menswear 101' for some blokes out there for what to have in their wardrobe. From the blue jeans to the white shirt and tee, to the canvas pumps and grey knit - those are no-brainer pieces actually. But for me, the key is simple - as long as it fits, skim the body nicely and I'm really 'feeling' it - then it's the right one for me. One thing for sure: I'll never let anyone buy clothes on my behalf - I've gotta go and try it myself, dude! =)

Blue jeans. If you're going to another 'style' level, then you've gotta have it in different washes and cut:
light blue, indigo, raw, one-wash, stonewash, acid-wash, regular cut, slimfit, skinny, carrot cut... :)

Nothing can beat a slimfit, loose collar (not the buttoned down) of a crisp, white shirt!
And for me, it's always about the thread count!

I'm still in a 'brown shoe' quest. A neverending quest!

When searching for a tee, my own rule - never the sleeves to be like Buzz Lightyear.
It's always the 'one-finger' rule - if many can fit the sleeves, then it's too big and will be
'flappy' when I'm walking!

With black shoes - power look.
With grey shoes - streamline look.
With brown shoes - sartorial look!

My another quest. I never like navy - but I'm trying to find a right one, though.

P/S: To Miss Nene from HSBC, I love it when you said to me "I thought you're a designer!?". Translation: my style, I made it! Lol! :)
