Reprising the Role...

S

Tiring, but it's fun. Now I think it's time for me to return into the limelight!

It seems that 2010 is the year when people reprises their role in many ways. Michael Douglas did his Gordon Gekko comeback in Money Never Sleeps. Dolph Lundgren and Sylvester Stallone did their action flick again in the The Expendables. And me? Well, I'm not an actor... nor a 'veteran' like those folks. Yet, i'm back into doing what I do best before - becoming an emcee for big events again. What an exciting time since it's been so long I haven't been listening to my own voice through the loudspeaker again. Nor to be able to speak in front of thousands of people in the hall. Or get to see my own face in the ginormous screen on the stage. Not that I'm too narcissist (well, a bit..lol). But I love it and things gonna change since I can reprise the role all over again. Really exciting!

I can say that being an emcee is kinda like being a model strutting his stuff in a catwalk show. Though the difference is that a model has his body of work to walk down the runway again and again and doesn't have to speak at all, whereas an emcee has to speak, to use the 'voice' for the event to happen - but when it comes to the adrenaline rush, both jobs are the same. Coz all eyes are on you, so it adds a bit of stress to wanting to perform at your best. And looking your best too coz you don't wanna come across as being sloppy especially there's camera rolling to capture every moment that you're in.

It's not the first time I did emcee-ing. I think I've done it many, many times before - from being the head student when I was 12 and giving speech in front of my classmates, to being a school deejay at the same time, which is then continue when I was 17 and at uni as well. Not to mention, speaking in front of more than 200 people on a biweekly basis. But for a proper big events, i can say that it was 5 years ago things really propelled like crazy when I was hosting not less than 16 events in a period of two years. Not too bad for an amateur like me coz I love doing it. I think the best memory that I had is hosting a conference at KL Convention Center with thousands of audience in the hall. Oh, and sharing a stage with the former Prime Minister in a seminar which is attended by not less than 3000 people! A total madness. But hey, I love having that surge of adrenaline right through my spine! So electrifying!

Anyway, here I am back doing some rehearsals before the big event's happening soon. This is what the hall looks like when it's empty. Just imagine how things gonna look like when it's packed with people...

This is the hall. Soon, it'll be packed with 2000+ people!

And mentioning looking good, I'm glad that it's the perfect time to rebrand myself. From being an emcee in the previous years with a mediocre style, into an emcee that really has the wow factor. (Well, at least I think I am!) It's time to bring out all those skinny suits and ties, slimfit shirts and all those shoes that I have for me to wear during the days of me standing behind the rostrum. One thing for sure, the audience who attended during my rehearsal days will definitely be having an 'eyecandy extravaganza' since they won't be seeing me in a same outfit everyday. They'll be having a great 'show' to watch!

So, what shoes have I worn on my first day of rehersal yesterday? I was actually having a split decision of either to wear my Prada lace-up shoes or a Hugo Boss brogue boots which could go well with my outfit-of-the-day. The thing is, I'm gonna be sitting on a nearby seat at times during the event so I thought part of my calves would be 'exposed' to the audience to see. At first I tried my Prada, but, yikes... I hate the look especially the 'gap' between the shoes and the trouser's end. Looks so weird.

Yet, when i put on the boots... voila! I love how the shape of the shoes really went well with the pants while at the same time hiding my calves out of sight! A brilliant choice of the day.

And what am I wearing? Something that I call a 'cheeky formal'. The whole look is quite sombre and simple, but the blazer has cropped sleeves which give a somewhat a twist to the whole formalwear. Well, it's only a rehearsal day ... so there's no need for me to be completely 'solemn' on my whole outfit yet! :)

Keep reading my daily scoop to see what I wear on the other days and my other preparations prior to the big event. Or to see what make-up I'll be putting on my face to prevent that 'glaring' moment on the day itself. (Hoho.. yes, I have to wear make-up since I'm working in front of the camera!).

Till then... I'm glad to be back reprising the 'old' role! Lights, camera... emcee! :)
