Once seen as a staple wardrobe for the OAPs (Old Age Professors, that is hehe..) and museum curators (think Ricky Gervais in Night At The Museum), tweed and flennel blazer is now has reach its sartorial height. Last Fall/Winter '09 catwalk is being awashed with tweed blazers (or at least I think so, judging from the pixs). From Burberry Prorsum to Commes des Garcons, Jil Sander to Thom Browne. So, what does it mean then? It's truly gonna be a hot trend for next season. Definitely.
Burberry and Commes des Garcons
Though they can be many versions of tweeds, the one that I like would be the grey herringbone or Harris Tweed. Very versatile and can go with anything. Pair it with the skinnies, you'll definitely rock the urban mod look. With formal trousers ala Bottega Veneta, you'll get a classic 20s look. With hoodies underneath, it truly screams edgy streetwear.
So what's out there? If you have a large cheque, then the one by Burberry, Commes des Garcons and Paul Smith could be yours. And if you are a bargainista like moi, River Island's might be the one. Though I love the one-button, the material however feels quite 'raw'. But my fav would definitely the one at Gap. When i tried it last weekend, the fit is just amazing. The fabric is just soft, the texture is great and I don't feel 'itchy' in it. And the price is quite affordable too. I think it's a worth investment for a highstreet piece.
Hmmm...should I get one? :)
