BigFatSpender: I'm Brogue!

S

In my encounter at Church's shoe store in Bicester Village a couple of weeks ago, I've come to a term that I'm not a traditional brogue person. My feet won't be able to handle the chunkiness of the sole and the round toe of the lace-up brogues has to offer. It's such a shame though coz I love brogues very much, since they're the kind of 'traditional' shoes that any man should own one. So, to those labels that I adore like Grenson, Loake and Trickers - I have to say au revoir!

But that doesn't stop me of planting those idea that I will get a brogue lace-ups. And I want something really British. I probably won't be getting anything from Northampton-made coz they're the best brogues one could ever find. But at least I'll get it from a British brand. Something very quintessential British institution. And British brand it is, coz I finally get my own collection of brogues from none other than Paul Smith.

So, on three different occasions, on three separate days - the lace-up Miller brogues by Paul Smith are finally mine. I'm really contempt this time that I would stay away from black, unless there's something very special that the 'black' can lure me. Therefore, those brogues are non-black versions - a dark chocolate, a graphite grey and an off-white. They're all dip dyed - that's why they have kinda smoky feel to it.

What I love about the shoes are the mix of traditional and modern takes to it. Traditional in a sense that the brogue pattern is very British, very old-school feel. Yet, it is modern coz the sole is not chunky and the design is very slim. And since Sir Paul designs are known to have that playfulness to it, the inner lining is given a floral pattern. Very Spring/Summer indeed. To add to that flair, the graphite and dark choc got a tint of red 'hem' on the ankle. Fun. ;)

If you ask which one is my fav? I love them all. The off-white is meant to be for casual, the graphite can be for both occasions, and so as the dark choc. But the chicks are really digging the dark choc one, coz there's one occasion some ladies can't take her eyes off the shoes, probably it's luscious to look at. Like chocolate! =)

It's always that little thing that makes me excited.
For Paul Smith shoes, they come in boxes with a little
multicolored stretchy band which is so cool...
