Is it just me or suddenly everyone is going crazy about looking geeky? The look of that guy across the table the library in his black-rimmed glasses who buried himself in a mountain-high books. Or that bloke who's been working down there in the sub-basement lab trying to uncrack the code of the universe for the sake of mankind. Or even the look of that greying professor who's been teaching the same subject for years as long as you can remember (which reminds me of my lecturer, Prof. Hewitt at Imperial!). Geek who used to be the laughing stock matter has now turning itself into becoming a coveted high-fashion look. There's something appealing about looking geeky. Maybe because it exudes some sort of sheer sexiness behind the glasses worn by those people.
I can say I have finally succumbed into the geek chic look myself. Or shall I rephrase that by saying I'm going back to my old self coz I have now resorted to my geeky specs during nightime upon taking off my contacts just to have a feel to the whole new phenomenon. (unlike before, I never wear glasses and only removed my contacts just before going to bed. Or not at all. Erks!). I'm kinda digging the 60s look which is somehow in at the moment. But i don't think I'm gonna wear glasses when I went out from the house coz I felt that it'll restrict my whole vision.
Anyway, if you wanna your own version of geek chic the highstreet are awashed with the glasses anywhere from Topman to River Island and H&M to New Look. They come in various versions like the wayfarer black rim to round Harry-Potter lookalike to retro tortoiseshell frames. Very cheap from as low as £3 to about £15 for you to unleashed your geekiness. Me, my favorite is the black acetate frames - so classic and kinda look what my old man used to have. :)
