How to Make a New Best Friend

Life and times change and so do your friends, even your best friend. If you want to make a new best friend, either because of a move or because you have grown apart from your previous best friend, you can make a new best friend with a little work, time and fun experiences.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Instructions
  1. 1

Create meaningful experiences to share with your new best friend. Best friends have great memories together, be it at the mall, park, over coffee or sporting or theater events. Make plans to do activities you both enjoy that will make your bonds stronger and that you can laugh about later.

  2. 2

Pick someone that matches your likes, dislikes, values and situation. You want to fit together like two peas in a pod, so finding someone that already feels the same way about things that you do is a must. You don't have to agree on everything, but having similar past experiences and the same schedule, family or similar activities, will help you gel as a team.

  3. 3

Make the rest of your families or friends mesh. It is important that your best friend get along with your other friends and family. If your new best friend is single, make them feel comfortable with the friends and family you surround yourself with. If your new friend has a family of their own, plan picnics and events where everyone can meet, mingle and have fun.

  4. 4

Ease into the friendship, as forcing it to work out will only backfire in the end. If you have found an exceptionally amazing person, resist the urge to suction yourself to them and insert yourself into every minute of their planned day. Having time apart is as valuable as spending time together.

  5. 5

Give it some time. A strong relationship needs a good foundation. A few lucky people may find their best friend and the next day be inseparable, but most people will find that it takes some time to move from just friends to best buds. Let things happen naturally, even if it takes a few months or longer....
