as long as you have money...theyll sell it to you..trust me
Im hoping that the lines arent too bad. I pre-ordered online..although it doesnt seem to make any difference.
Im really hoping that the lack of a subsidy and the fact that they are shipping them from the website will make the lines almost nonexistent.....but im thinking thats probably not gonna happen. I dont even know when my local mall opens..i guess they would open early enough to let people line up? who knows..

So after the fiasco of Katrina and the pending one of Rita, this has turned out to be a very bad year for storms - and, unfortunately, the season isn't over. With all the talk of global warming and stronger storms, what are people going to do if things like this happen *every* year?
I'd like to get the view points from people who live down south and have had to deal with these or other hurricanes in the past.

I've been waiting for this to drop down to ~$70 for the last few months now (originally 90ish). I have the same computer as your friend.

When the Wii first came out, Nintendo shipped the bulk to the US, since it's the single most important market when it comes to gaming, but the Wii would sell out with in a few hours of it being stocked.
There's been a huge demand for the Wii and Nintendo is currently filling the demand of other regions, so they haven't been able to ship as many to the US.
Anyway, check stores like Target or Best Buy on a Sunday morning. They generally get the biggest shipment of Wiis.

That's where I've always seen them (Target), as I do my grocery shopping at super target.. I'll keep an eye out. I was blown away when I saw them on ebay for $400+ and talks about waiting lists, etc..

well i bought a new firewire cable thinking maybe that was the problem but now the dam external drive wont even show up on the desktop (or system profiler).. neither cable is able to bring the drive up on the desktop but it works fine with USB 2 ...it must be either my mac mini firewire port or the port on the drive and since i never used my firewire port on the mini before then my money is on the drive being faulty

It is the unibody MacBook. Will it hurt anything to try installing it?
I believe your macbook uses ddr2 memory, whereas the newer MBP's use DDR3. There is difference in voltage requirements for those two standards. You can install it in the macbook, it just won't boot, but you won't damage anything.
Why are you trying to do this in the first place?

Not sure why you didn't just move along instead of posting a snide comment. I read the product review and saw a variety of answers. I came here to confirm them
I read that you have to go to sound in system preferences and change the output to tv once you hook the cord up. Can you confirm that works?
Yes this'll work. I don't know why dqpassat is having problems though as the cpu speed has nothing to do with this.

it's your choice, but the more RAM you have the better :) DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES get RAM from Apple.

You missed the real story -- in the release notes Apple explain that they're deprecating the Apple maintained version of Java:
http://www.infoq.com/news/2010/10/apple-deprecates-java
Apple have provided a mechanism for installing 3rd party JDKs (in particular OpenJDK), but it likely won't work with current versions of Java IDEs (Netbeans, Eclipse etc) until they're updated to work with the new paths.
I wonder if this is anything to do with Oralce?
No. It's not related to any dislike between Apple and Oracle. I believe it was timed purposely to keep Java applications out of the new Mac App Store.
More importantly, is Java going to die on OS X? If OpenJDK or Soylatte don't pick it up then is all lost?
Don't forget the IcedTea project. This is related to OpenJDK, and already has a working Mac implementation.

What if its not a MacBook but rather a 5.1 sound systems with wireless speakers. Apple is rumoured to be replacing their boombox, so why not jump to the next tech and also incorporate streaming from AppleTV etc
