Autumn/Winter 2010: Gucci Does Hermes?

S
Oh my, did Gucci has taken inspiration from the famous Hermes Birkin bag, like this orange one that I snapped outside Hermes in Paris? Seeing some of the bags that Gucci showcased during the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection, I rest my case.

Btw, some of the bags at Gucci do look great especially the Birkin-lookalike in buttery soft leather and suede. I just love the horizontal stripes which give a tiny bit edge to the plain design.

There are other holdalls as well which share the same design (minus the strap) but in different color - greyish blue, to magenta and cream croc leather. Pretty simple, and seems to move away from typical rock and roll Gucci.

And talking about un-typical Guccissima, there's an re-introduction of Gucci diamante collection in croc-canvas combo. And of course, adding to the pieces is the leopard print briefcase, for those who like to push the style over the edge! Delish...

Anyway, what do I really think of the clothes in Gucci AW10 collection? Honestly, plain boring. As if Frida Giannini trying to be safe, and really escape from her typical glam rock-n-roll theme that she used to do in the previous seasons. One major change that I think is very obvious is that the skinny silhouettes has been replaced by a more slimfitting outfits. It's great though, coz somehow this will invoke the gaunt look is no more cool... toned one is what everyone should look good in. :)

Btw, some pieces that is pleasing to my eyes are these two lots - the knitwear and jacket in midnite blue. I love the sporty feel to it.

And some pieces that i think would always be in Gucci's DNA is the bling, bling - like the velvets which I think a continuation of FW09 look as well, but in much more 'sheen'.

But one particular piece that surprise me a lot is this 'dandy' overcoat, kinda a spitting image of the coat that I tried on at H&M last autumn. Hmm... did the designer now moved to Gucci? :)
