Instead of going inside Jaeger, I made a beeline towards Beatrix Ong boutique - in a cul-de-sac of Newburgh Quarter, just by Carnaby St. It's a cute little shop with shoes both for men and women. There's not many people inside, so I made my way in.
Aha! The shoes that I like is on the shelf right at the back of the Concept Store. Gorgeous, though I think the color is not as 'nude' as I saw - it was in cream. Anyway, it's still neutral - which I like. And since they're having 25%-off sale, I said to myself this is the perfect chance to get it.
But then I'm spoilt with choices. My eyes caught the sight of other shoes as well. And boy, it's not fair!! They're all damn gorgeous! From the two-tonal toe-cap lace-ups wool/leather in black and brown, to the strap Chelsea boots in delicious chocolate and greyish neutral - how can I made my decision?
Since I'm a guy who really can't take my eyes off any monochrome - I took the grey-black lace-ups to try on. The shoe is amazing. The combo of the hi-sheen black leather with grey wool fabric is splendid. I asked the salesgirl for my size, coz there's no way I will leave the shop without taking this one home. But damn, there's no more left?! What? Oh my... not my lucky day after all....
Yet the salesgirl said new stocks are coming back this February. But the price won't be the 25%-off anymore. It's gonna be full price. Errk... I said okay, I' just buy online instead.
Having dissapointed with the 'unlucky' situation, I made my way out to the other shoe store - Size?. It's not a typical couture shoe like Beatrix Ong, rather it's the sneakers galore. Adidas, Nike, Puma, Converse - just name it. But all the sneakers there are not the typical one that you find at JD Sports, Footlocker or even Adidas and Nike own store. They're one of a kind, or better put - limited editions. Like the Adidas Star Wars Edition and Nike Air Jordan 1 Retro that I used to write in this blog. During this rainy season, no way I'm gonna wear all my leather-soled shoes that I bought during the winter sale. Or I'll risk they gonna be soaking wet and ruined because of the damp sole.
So, in the end - no Beatrix Ong's coming home with me. Instead, two blue boxes are happily ever after in my shopping bags. Hmmm... what can i say. Newburgh Quarter really poses danger to me. Danger to my wallet, it is. :)
