Alexander McQueen's Final Show

S

Alexander McQueen's collection for Fall/Winter 10/11 has finally staged in a gilded salon in Paris recently. One word: amazing! As what McQueen's previous collection for womens are, these 16 outfit were nothing but fabulous. They're not just gorgoeus to be worn, but they're fit to be kept in a gallery coz everything about them is pure art. From the ornate embroidery, the detailed prints, the way the clothes draped the body, the feathers which is painstakingly covered in gold leaf - it is art. Nothing more, nothing less.

Looking at these pieces showcased in front of the selected editors, remind me of the similar collection that the late designer shown in the Fall/Winter 08 collection. Which happened to be displayed at Selfridges two years ago too. It's not the British-colonial feel that I'm talking about, but the neo-romanticism which he's trying to put across. The flowy, the sombre mood but still have that romance element in them. And some pieces even fit for a queen. Extreme elegent and has everything that screams 'royalty'.

It's everything you've expected from Alexander McQueen. Too bad we've lost such a talent. Long live McQueen!
