It was last week when I went shopping for bags for my sisters, I thought whoa... the ladies do have lots of choices, huh? Even i am spoilt with which bag should I buy for them coz practically everything catch my eyes! But for us men, nada. Not so much variety except for the 'retro' printed messenger bags with the logo like Puma, Adidas, Pan Am etc.. etc. Or tote bags which is once in a blue moon existed and came off to the market every now and then either at highstreet and designer labels. Other than that... hopeless choices.
Me, myself... I have lots of tote bags, as some of my friends and those who are regular to this blog should've known. Now I am feeling tired with carrying the same style all the time. Tote this, tote that... all the time it's tote, tote, tote! Isn't it so sad? Now I'm in a mood for a hobo bag. Why?
You know that tote has double handles, right? What make me sick about tote sometimes is that when I'm in a hurry, one of the handle - usually the far end one - always fall off, making the tote being 'opened' for no reason, and everything inside almost falling off too (when it's not zippered). Not cool. But with a hobo, since it's only single-handled and shorter, I don't have to worry about the strap or handle to fall off, coz it's practically on the shoulder all the time. (unless I am the one who fall, lol!)
Oh, you ask what's a hobo? I dunno. Lol! I think the difference between the hobo and a typical messanger is that the hobo doesn't has the 'flap' like the messenger bag has, and it's normally zippered (for women, it may have some small flap). And the strap or handle is very short, whereas the messanger's got very long one that you can do it crossbody. I hope I'm right in my 'definition', ahaks!. In the ladies department, you get loads and loads of hobo's, like the Burberry one which is I truly adore.
Since I'm in the mood for a hobo now, I've turned my old zippered-top messanger bag into a hobo. I went to the tailor and tell him "cut the strap shorter! And punch some holes on it too so that I can adjust the length however I want!" And he follows my order (customer's always right!). And voila... I got myself a hobo bag as I wish. And the color suits my Armani boots too! :)
Yet, out there in the market there's no hobo bag for men whatsoever (or maybe I haven't found it yet). But my eyes are on this Gucci Guccissima dark chocolate leather one which looks quite fierce. I know this one is for women - but my naughty mind keep on saying hey, it looks very unisex! Is it? Isn't it? I dunno. I love its simple look, and what makes it worth is because it's a Gucci. Hehe... Should I? Shouldn't I go for this hobo? Hmmm... nah, it's still for women.
Maybe next time, some designer would do a hobo for men too. Just keep wishing!
