Old Ties, New Ties

S

I remember talking to my niece one time, and she told me that she hate history. I couldn't agree more with her after seeing how thick is the History book that she have to read for the exam. And so boring too coz it's all texts and texts and texts with less pictures in it. Well, ok... I know it's not a fashion magazine, but nowadays people got to include lots of pictures in any printed media coz that's what make people remember better. Pictorials. Anyway, my niece - she didn't really get why people has to learn history. Hmmm... to me history is the most important of all though me myself hate the subject too in yesteryears. But having involved in many stuff previously, I learned that we all gotta know hsitory coz that's how we can proceed to the next level. We need to know history to see how far we've come. We need to know history coz it defines us what we used to be and how we could be in future. And that's why history has its part not only in politics, but also in tourism, science, family life as well as fashion too. (Now I sound like a history teacher, Lol!)

Anyway, part of my history - I found my old ties hanging behind the door of my bedroom. Quite a number of them coz people know me to be the one who like to match the ties to my attire. Red tie with red shirt, purple tie with the purples and blues on blues. I took a look of how those ties are now. Still ok and there're ranges of pattern like stripes (most of it!), floralish and the one with 'box' prints. And I also got this silly one by Disney - look from afar you'll see a plain diagonal yellow 'dots' on a red background. Look closer then you'll find that the dots are actually Mickey Mouse head. You know that iconic 'three circles', right? Pretty insane but its fun to wear that time. :)

But one fact about the ties I'm having - I won't be wearing 'em anymore. Why? Coz they're way to wide compared to what I'm wearing now which is more slim and mod. When I compare one of them with the tie that I got at Kitschen last time, my old tie looks like it's just been 'supersized'! I can't bear wearing it with any shirts that I have. Kinda hideous, I think.

But I don't wanna give e'm away coz I love all the designs. The only thing that I think might resurrect my old ties is - take it to the tailor and 'superskinny' it! Simple. And it's one way to reuse the accessories. Am I not helping the environment here? =)
