Eastpak Artist Studio vs Alecca Rox

S
The project: "77 of the continent’s most creative personalities have been selected to produce original creations from a number of limited edition 'blank' EASTPAK bags. The artists have been selected from different backgrounds and include painters, sculptors and poets as well as musicians, graffiti artists and television personalities.

EASTPAK is proud to support this select group of artists and the communities that feed their inspiration. All proceeds of sales of these one-of-a-kind creations will be donated to a local charity organisation in each participating country".

It's creative. It's for a good cause. I am in.
Check out the project here. Can you spot my bag? Well it's here - stats are 2009 but do you care. Will get back to you on this one, so happy to be part of it.

It's nice when press professionals appreciate what you do, but there is no greater honour than when a fellow fashion blogger says so.

Wait a minute, there is. It's when a fellow fashion blogger says so and is inspired to make an illustration about you. At least that's how I felt today seeing me illustrated at Fashion Algorithms' top post.

Gee, this could well be me!
Ever so flattered as very skillful Katerina went into all the trouble of making this fab collage but also because she spoke of me as her 'most favorite fashion blogger'. *

A very good piece on fash-blogs GR, finally referring to the marketing implications and spot on briefs of the mentioned blog spots. Clearly the author, George Anagnostopoulos read them thoroughly before writing typing. Honoured to be part of it, especially as it's titled 'leading fashion blogs in Greece'.

Forget not that it doesn't matter who gets the mention, fashion blogs are different voices on the same subject yet equally important, never enough and are all waiting to be discovered on each others blogrolls.

When journalist Zoe Koskinidou said she's doing a piece on fashion bloggers for a car magazine I thought she's teasing. She was not. She actually put together a damn good piece on the Fashion Blogs VS Magazines issue. A pink break on the pages of a car mag and an interesting take on blogging.

Tonight, while getting ready for your Friday night out (between 22:00-00:00), make sure your radio is tuned in to SKAI 100.3 because...

we are talking fashion blogging on air

Stavros Dioskouridis and Panagiotis Menegos, the hosts of 'Laternative', are brave enough to have Life Full of Fashion, Battered Couture and (brunette) me, over at the studio. They wonna know what's the saga all about. We are up for it.
Turn that mic on.

You can listen online too, here.

Special thanks to Tachydromos Magazine for having us.

"Independent fashion bloggers are the voice of buyers, whereas fashion editors are the voice of sellers" is what's featured next to my name and indeed this is what I said, word-for-word. By no means does this translate though into "independent fashion bloggers will tell the truth, whereas fashion editors are those devils wearing Prada, on a mission to trap you into buying".

Fashion editors will show you what the companies are selling this season. Someone has to. Indie fashion bloggers will show you which of that they bought/liked and what they did with it. Someone had to. The first one gets paid, the second one pays, the first one acts, the second reacts. Someone always has to.

It's like two different sides of the same coin: 'professional' and 'personal'. Distinction brings balance. That's how I see it.
Other fashion bloggers on Tachydromos today: The Soho Symposium, Fashion Architect, Chloe in the Sky with Diamonds and Life Full of Fashion. However, the bigger picture is fashion blogging and not just us. We are always honoured to be featured, but we only represent rather than dominate. Our side-menus are full of links. If fashion is your thing, start checking them out.

Celebrity Skin - show coming up

S
Celebrity Skin show has now finished and what for a communication sponsor would I be had I not loaded my camera with plenty of backstage and front row coverage to share with you! Give me a minute (or two) to sort it out and whilst I'm doing this, you can follow what's up at AXDW though Lopi's excellent tweets.

What's with the fish fuss

S
Today's editorial of the Big Fish features five Greek fashion bloggers above the title "New media avenge themselves (but they do it in style)". Myself, The Soho Symposium, Life Full of Fashion, Battered Couture and Life in Athens were the sample chosen to represent the growing community of fashion bloggers that do not aim to judge or guide, but share and discuss.

An honour, no question, especially as it came so unexpectedly. Had never thought of what we so naturally do every morning as influential or world changing, but indeed, independent fashion blogging is a snap back to reality, a shout out to those that often forget that fashion is there to serve real people.

If this was your first dive into fashion blogging, hope you took a deep breath: the clicks are endless.

Thank you, Celebrity Skin

One of the very first decisions I had to take when starting this blog, about a year ago, was whether or not I'd be showing my face. Thinking of the real reasons why I decided to blog, my decision was easy: face didn't matter.

Celebrity Skin, Dimitris Strepkos & Eleni Barla, noticed this statement and had quite the thing for Alecca: a custom made pair of sunglasses, dressed in a sequined veil, handmade for the styling of their latest collection "Immortal Extravaganza". Needless to say, I love it... So, big thank you to Celebrity Skin.

The timing was just perfect as my first ever recorded interview had landed and I was proud to be featured wearing a piece of my very own "Immortal Extravaganza" (see image above). Sweet thank you to in2life.gr and Elena Mpoulia for a fun interview - for the Greek speaking audience, err....online today here.

Leaving you with a mini selection of Celebrity Skin's latest photo shoot, breathtaking as always:

With this and that, forgot to say, we* are on Glamour.
(*We: {moi},
Hari_K, Elena, Nina Malvada, Katerina B. , Lopi, and Giorgia from Italy)

Glamour GR hearts bloggers, we heart it back. Along with featuring our shoots, the issue out now gives you the chance to do it yourself. It's fun, it's personal, it's creative, why don't you.

On air

S
Yesterday was my first radio reference ever.
(picture this: you are driving along the coast listening to Royksopp's "The Girl & The Robot". You think Robyn's vocals kick a**, you're singing along trying to avoid drivers who race only to end up next to you again at the lights and then...someone says he's been reading aleccarox, on air. I swear I nearly crushed! What can I say. THANK YOU.)

*enter*

S
Usually I talk about others. Glamour and Amalia Agathou gave me a push to talk about myself.

Amalia spotted the emerging force of fash-blogging in this country, a medium that's been bubbling abroad for quite a while now. "FASHION BLOGGERS GR - the guys that change fashion by hitting enter" is how she puts it on June issue's cover. Not sure if that's what we do, sure as hell though we offer an independent view of things under stitch right now.

In this piece you can get to know better the bloggers behind streetgeist, fashionarchitect, thesohosymposium and queenkatbee. Have a look, it's all so fresh.
