Bags @ Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011

S
When I took a peek through the window display at Selfridges last winter, one bag really drawn my attention. It's Louis Vuitton Monogram Idylle. Why am I drawn to that women's shoulder bag in particular, I don't really know. Maybe because of the color which is not the classic brown LV Monogram or Damier Ebene which has become Louis Vuitton's signature. Or maybe because of the fabric used - kinda washed canvas - and has quite soft, chic color. Yes, there's still 'LV' stamped all over it, but as a whole it's so untraditional Louis Vuitton. Since then, I just wished the fashion house would do the same thing for men coz they're absolutely understated and just 'so not LV' but still LV (don't know whether you get what I mean, lol!).

And as if my wish has been granted, I'm excited to see the bags paraded on the runway show during the in the recent Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2011 has the similar vibes. The grey and natural-colored LV monogramme totes in somewhat washed canvas, looks quite similar to the Idylle that I saw at Selfridges. Probably better coz the hues are much more masculine. I love that they pair it with olive-colored leather handles and trims to inject that worn out look yet still chic.

I'm also excited to see other bags too. Like the military-inspired 'Article De Voyage' totes which has some retro World War feel, to the translucide Keepall which I think great if you wanna bring it along to the gym or by the pool since it looks quite 'splash-friendly'. Since Louis Vuitton likes to collaborate with so many artists - from Murakami to Stephen Sprouse and Christian Schoeller (in previous FW10 collection) - this time around it's the work of the tattoo artist, Scott Campbell who create great imagery of the Asian-inspired paintings scriptured on some of the carryalls. Very beautiful.

The one that I truly love in this collection is the new Damier Graphite bag which is much more practical and 'wearable' for casual, day-to-day basis (unlike the President or Jorn, which are more 'formal'!). Oh, they come in other color too - in green checks - though I dunno whether it's gonna be called Damier Graphite or perhaps Damier Couleur? But one question that's reeling in my head - why does it has the same look like the Mango Osaka bag? I know they're not exactly the same - but it has quite similar feel to it. Isn't it? :)
