Menswear in the Wild

S
The earliest I can recall going into the wilderness is when I was 11, camping out there in the woods with hundreds of people during a jamboree. I was a Boy Scout then, and we have the gathering from the members not only nationwide, but also from the Asean region as well. It was the first time I've separated from my family and ever slept in the woods; in a self-made tent done by my classmate using a parka, under the stars... and sometimes rain; and no shower except for using a bucket to draw water up from a well. And the most challenging part is when the nature calls... the bushes suddenly become the victim! Challenging, yes... but it was pure fun.

Growing up, I dunno if I've ever gone into the wild like that - except passing through it, yes, i did that all the time. The best one I think is when me and a friend drove all the way from East Midlands to Edinburgh during a winter in January; passing through the forest at Northumberland and Cumbria, and small towns that I've never heard before like Jedburgh. It was amazing coz not only the cold weather is quite a challenge, the time is also a big thing to consider coz the daytime was shorter and we don't wanna stuck in the woods out of nowhere. Yet, things are good when we arrived at Edinburgh about 8 pm, which is already equivalent to 11 pm at normal time (it's dark!). Another thing: I got to see Hadrians Wall, that spans all the way hundreds of kilometers through the highlands, as well as snapped photos at the England/Scotland border. Another pure fun.

Wanna have some idea how's the surrounding during me and my mate's journey to Edinburgh? It's pretty much the same like in this editorial by The Guardian UK, except that we didn't have a chance to see the river or any streams alongside. But the forest - yes, definitely like that. One absolute wonder that both of us find is actually when we arrived at the border - the view is astounding! More like in pix #6 and #8, open wide spaces with mountains view - and we feel as if we're doing a Vauxhall car commercial instead ... :)
