They're Feeling The Blues...

Am I 'qualified' to be having the Monday blues today? I think I am, after looking to what had happened during the weekend, I can really stamped on my forehead that I am having the blues on this dire Monday.

I was planning to go to the capital in the weekend, to shop at Pavillion KL since now is the Malaysia's Mega Sale Carnival (which will end till 31st August) - so, I'm guessing there must be lots of items that're being slashed their prices during this period. Around that area, there's also Uniqlo which I haven't visited yet ever since they open their door in this country. Or maybe, if I don't wanna brave the traffic along Bukit Bintang that much I've just hit OneUtama at Damansara instead coz what's in the megamall is not to be messed with (it's now becoming ever humungous size than ever). Or the least I could go to Ikea coz their Sale has just started last week, and I always love finding bargains in the store.

But I can't, since there's a stupid rally in town which made the whole city kinda locked down. As much as I've been locked down in my room the night before which is truly a nightmare (that itself is a contributing factor to this Monday blues too!). Traffic become very crazy and there're lots of roadblock at many stops to crackdown people from going into the city. So, what to do? I just stayed home, and shopped in the malls nearby. Ipoh is not that bad you know, in fact I found lots of interesting stuff which I'll tell later.

Anyway, Monday blues... As cliche as the title could be, I wish I could wear 'blue' also, to make things even more cliche. Perhaps, a blue blazer instead of the typical shirt or trousers in the same color. So far what I've seen the blue jacket or blazer that people tend to wear is only its darker shade in navy - not other hues of blue. Probably it's the safest thing to go (not to mention boring!) and could give an alternative to the normal black. Anyway those at Mr. Porter gave some styles on how to wear blue blazer, which ranges from single- to double-breasted, lighter or darker shade of blue, and even to rock in casual or formal.

As Mr. Porter did mentioned that every man should own at least one blue blazer, thankfully I'm on the same wavelength. In fact I wore my blue hi-sheen linen blazer during my emceeing rehearsal last year which I think quite fit the bill. When I said 'fit the bill', it's not just about the color blue, but also the 'fit' - slim fit! [previous entry here]

Bradley Cooper in Esquire Malaysia and US Issues

Currently the leading Hollywood men - after his movie line ups such as Limitless, The Dark Field and The Hangover II are making their way into the cinemas recently - Bradley Cooper has graced not one, but two Esquire covers for the start of summer. Seen on two versions - the US version for Jun/July and Malaysian issue for July 2011, the actor is seen on the same ensemble from Giorgio Armani which is photographed exclusively for Esquire by Nigel Parry.

Which one do you like better? I like neither of them. At least he should be wearing much slimmer suit than what it is! Don't you get the rule, dude? Find a fit a size smaller than you should....

Suit + Sneakers Combination

Would it be a major fashion faux pas if you wear a suit with a pair of sneakers? Not anymore coz these days there're no rules in fashion. You can basically wear anything that you want - the only thing is, whether it looks good or not, which is a different question after all. And not if you know how to rock it too. One that is 'almost' got it right for the suit-sneakers combo is Jay Baruchel, which I happen to notice in my previous blogpost. [read here].

To me there is nothing wrong of pairing these two. Well, at least not for the office for sure coz you should look a bit 'respectable' when you sign the deal papers. Yet, suit+sneakers is always okay after-five activities, or during which you wanna feel a bit casual when you go out with your mates. How to pair suit+sneakers, it's up to you, and our friend at Glam Lelaki give some choice how to do it.

Gong Yoo for Men's Uno

The Korean actor, Gong Yoo graces the editorial spread in Men's Uno June issue wearing the clothes from Dior Homme. Of all 7+ pages, I picked this two pix which look simple but understatedly splendid. A discreetly chic which speaks classy at the same time.

I love the first pix which he wore the linen ensemble in neutral tone. The sleeveless draped shirt is like a cross between a typical suit jacket and a shirt. Very edgy with the thin lapels and plunging neckline, and the capped sleeves reminisces a Shaolin attire.

The second pix is quite a signature look by Kris Van Assche for Dior Homme. The sleeveless jacket with raw edge lapels, truly speaks the essence of the designer himself. Try looking down, you will see the unique and quirky take on the typical 'no-no' sandals-wearing ethos : wearing sandals with socks. The only thing is that, this one is not your typical sandals; coz the footwear has a removable cotton 'socks' by which if you wear it both, it'll end up looking like a desert boots. Isn't it brilliant?

BigFat Colors Galore!

Whether it's the clothes, or the surrounding background; Summer 2011 is all about the celebration of colors. Spread throughout the editorials, ad campaigns and lookbooks - bright colors like burnt orange, canary yellow, forest green, turquoise, aqua, fuchsia and magenta - they all fill up the life in a huge way. Color block, color compliment, or just simply 'colors', it's time to be bring yourself out from the monochromatic syndrome.

So, what are you waiting for: isn't that bright colors symbolises "optimism"?
