Burberry Prorsum RTW Spring/Summer '10: Dynasty Meet Futuristic Romantic?

6.30 pm sharp. I think everyone in this entire universe who didn't get ticket to see the Burberry show @ SW1, London would glued to their LCD screen like moi. The live streaming of the much anticipated comeback show on British shores again. My verdict?

The runway: very plain and simple. No frills, no drama, no props (?) like their fall/winter with dried autumn leaves scattered or giant check design on the background. Perhaps it's more subdued, very bright; as bright as London summer sunny sky (if you are lucky..:D)

The music: cool, pretty laidback... as if you're lounging around by the beach.

The collection: This is a different story after all. No more English garden, green, peasant-like clothes. It's more "back to the future" kinda feel. 'Back' as if they're going back to the Dynasty era with big shoulders ala Joan Collins' dress. 'Future' coz the color pallette seems to be more glittery, glimmer, metallic here and there. You also get pale shades of blues, hues of greys, tint of pinks and cool icy green. Yes, romantic vibes is still has its presence, but 'futuristic romantic' I would say. And talking about the collection which is mainly outerwear, aren't they just brilliant? It's not the ladies' typical pac-a-mac, but more drama here. There're frills, knots and wraparound feel. One time you think it's a typical mac, but suddenly 'poof' you get the pouffy shoulders. And the dress, though we've seen it before (esp on Project Runway, lol), at least they gave a 'longevity' feel to the typical summer dress. And oh the shoes? I think the ladies gonna fall for it, definitely (not to mention fall because of it too, lol)

Overall, brilliant collection though not pretty sure if people still going for 80's vibes again next SS'10. Anyway, it's nice to see some top models grace the catwalk like Lily Donaldson, Freja Beha, Chanel Iman and Ikeliene.

My Must-haves for Fall/Winter '09: Leather Biker Jacket

Biker jacket would never be out of style. Nor season. This coming fall/winter 09 is not an exception coz on the catwalk and in highstreet, biker jackets are making appearances. Gucci sent their models in various versions of leather bikers from asymmetric, to bomber look and even croc leather. As sumptous as it may seems, it definitely gonna cost quite a fortune (but definitely good investment though, ;D). Others that did asymmetric is Balmain which is modeled by Clement Chabernaud in their ad campaign which looks quite fierce with multi-zippered on the sleeves and on the torso.

But the one that I still love would definitely be the asymmetric jacket by J. Lindeberg, which is available at ASOS last Fall/Winter. The long zipper on the side made it look extra oommph, not to mention the fit which flatters the figure to the max.

And as a must-have in my Fall/Winter 09 wardrobe - I got mine from Uniqlo. Love the simplicity of the asymmetric look. I just fell for the overall design which I think quite edgy. It may not be real leather (Uniqlo calls it neo leather) - but the texture is so buttery soft. (it's a vegetarian-friendly, LOL!) And the price won't burn a whole in my wallet too! Plus with an extra 10% discount in store, what not to grab, right?

Fall/winter must-haves no.1: biker jacket - sorted.

Style to Steal: Fashion Forward with Bottega Veneta

Spring/summer 2010 might be one year ahead, but who can wait that long to start wearing those season's collection. And now that people started talking about seasonless clothing, I think it's a good time to start wearing any 'future' trend now. Being fashion forward, right?

Talking about fashion forward, one label that definitely set the trend is Bottega Veneta. From the cut, color palette to hairstyling too. And for most of us who's crunching on wallet, owning pieces of Bottega might be breaking the whole piggy bank. So what to do? Scour the highstreet then, coz there pieces that you can find.

My picks are some of these. Well, it might not be the exact copy, yet it still can do the job emulating the label's look.

• Contrast-sleeved baseball jacket - get similar trend at River Island.

• Bottega's version might be floral jacket, but you can work magic with H&M's blue floral shirt in their 'Purple Label' range.

• Leather blazer - the one from Uniqlo which is new in stores might work magic. Just give a bit 'crumple' so that you can get a slight 'distress' look like Bottega's.

Shoe Galore: Giorgio Armani SS'10

Mr Armani will definitely set a new trend in footwear come spring/summer '10. A trend that is way different compared to previous collection so far (I think..huhu).

Yes, snakeskin is making a hissing return to SS'10. And yes, there may be nothing new with broque lace-ups either. Yet this time there's a new twist. While summer '09 designers seems to go with two-tonal front and side brogues, Giorgio Armani SS'10 collection is given horizontal contrast. The toe cap and back body is given darker shades exotic skin feel, leaving the mid-section with matt color contrast. The choices of color is also uber cool, with brown/beige, choc/tan and black/white versions.

Other shoes that's quite interesting are the snakeskin trainers and the weaved leather lace-ups resembling the traditional oriental baskets. Also the other reptile skin lace-ups which I can't tell either baby alligator or black adder skin. LOL! Btw, they're all looks dazzling!
