Tote Bags: Highstreet Copy Highstreet?

They say imitation is a form of flattery. And that's okay if someone copy the same items from a designer label coz the intention is to brought down the prices to the deserving masses. Even Mr Giorgio Armani says he's proud to see people could wear an Armani, even a fake one. But what happen when a highstreet brand trying to copy another items from another highstreet brand? Does it serve the purpose as I mentioned before?

When I flipped through the PADINI lookbook that I got from the Eh! magazine, I was quite stunned to see one of the bags featured in the menswear segment. The tote bags with two zippered pockets on the front in navy/brown color combo, which happen to look exactly the same with the bag that I got from Zara last spring 2009. Just look at both pix below - can you spot the difference? Apart from Zara's got the shoulder strap which is absent on Seed, both look like a carbon copy of each other. So, who's copying whom? Or are they being manufactured at the same factory?

This is not the first time that I saw some highstreet pieces being copied by another. Previously there's some stalls at Oxford Street selling the River Island quilted tote bags at a price less than the original one. And they're exactly the same, though some look even less quality. But, come on... when both are already at low prices (and not even leather), what's the point?

So. Highstreet copy highstreet. Does it it really worth it? Y o u d e c i d e . . . . .

(Now let's play that game: spot at least five differences of both pictures. :D)
