They sorted out some business with the European Committee. (Not really but they took this picture) They took part at Hobby Creatief Salon in Antwerp. Shot of Stringlesand Koresjoined stand, representing colour, creation and... home. Happy to hear these girls stole the heart of both posh and alternative Belgian shop owners. Soon some their accessories are going north. Last but not least, a (naughty) picture of a rather wild pair of tights and gloves at the windows of unknown store in Antwerp. I seriously hope they brought this souvenir back.
Ok Belgian readers, two very colourful and creative accessories designers will be bringing sunshine your way at Hobby Creatief Salon, between the 27 and 28th of November. Strigles(above) and Kores(below) are loading their bags as we speak with their most unique winter designs, hand-made in Greece. If your location is Antwerp next weekend, check them out! -Hall 1, 10am - 6pm.
'Beyond Dress Codes' is an exhibition about to open its doors at the Hellenic American Union Galleries. In accordance to the theme, it demonstrates that traditional Greek costume should not be regarded as the antiquated contents of museum showcases, but instead a creation of timeless interest that continues to serve as a source of inspiration.
In an attempt to create a “dialogue” between traditional Greek dress and contemporary fashion, creations by Jean-Paul Gaultier and John Galliano will be on show, as well as by other distinguished Greek fashion designers such as Angelos Bratis, Dimitris Dassios, Deux Hommes, Yiorgos Eleftheriades, Ioannis Guia, Sofia Kokosalaki, Thanos Kyriakides, Mastori*Motwary, MiRo, Orsalia Parthenis.
Curated by the fashion historian Lydia Kamitsis / Sketches of traditional Greek costumes by sketch artist Gissis Papageorgiou.
From 27.09.2010 - 27.10.2010 Hellenic American Union Galleries, #22 Massalias str., Athens Free Admission

'Endyesthai' - greek for 'to dress' -is an exhibition by the Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation currently hosted at Benaki Museum, Athens (Pireos str. branch). I told you it was coming up back in October, but now you can actually visit it as its doors will stay open until May 23rd.
A presentation of this nature and variety takes place for the first time in Greece, with exhibits ranging to clothes from the 18th century till the 21st. Not only do they reflect the evolution of what we wear throught the centuries but also stresses out the need for the establishment of a Dress Cultural Museum. And yes, how we choose to dress reflects our culture in many ways.
Excellent touch, the guided tours performed by reknown designers, ready to take you though all exhibited forms of wearable and... not wearable exhibits which were created by the need to cover our nudity. For the scedule you can check this post by Shopping Therapy. All images are courtesy of pli.gr
No true fashion lover in this city (country) should miss out.
*You don't need to request invites or a press pass to get in. However nobody promises you celebrity encounters or that your photo will be snapped by a magazine. Let's see how many fashion sweethearts will queue outside this one, here's your chance.
