How to Wear Camel

S
I always talk about 'nude' in this blog. No, it's nothing to do with nakedness, but rather the flesh tone which is one color in the color wheel that I think is quite endearing. There's something about this neutral palette that makes it versatile; kinda similar way of how black and white are when it comes to being able to be paired with almost any color of your clothes.

One of the 'nude' hues that is famously featured in any editorials - or in correct term, the neutral tone actually (since nude is part of the neutral) - is camel. It spreads everywhere, from the cardigan to the jacket, overcoat to the trousers, slim suit to even ties and scarves; making it such a headliner in any fashion extravaganza. In fact, I can recalled back in Fall/Winter 2009 camel is one favorite color not only on the high-end designer labels, but also at highstreet too coz plenty camels are seen on the clothing line. From Celine, Chloe and Gucci, to Victor & Rolf and Ralph Lauren - that particular season is when the camel boom really has been reignited, which has now extended to become one of the staples in later seasons following it.

But how to wear camels so that your ensemble look chic? Our friends at Mr. Porter outlined some ideas on how to don a great pair. Whether your camel is the overcoat, or a top as a cardigan and sweater, or just a discreet element like a tie; there are ways to make 'em look very well put-together...

So, what's in my wardrobe? Some camel cardigan and sweater from H&M which I love the lighter hues of it. My favorite way to pair a camel is:
  • with a grey for the urban feel.
  • with the similar tone for a fun streamlined look.
  • with white or cream for a sense of chic.
  • with black for a subtle color blocking.
  • with blue for a trendy color blocking.
  • with red for a slight contrast without too overpowering.

Trendspotting : Leopard Shoes

S
If last September 2010 issues, leopard print boots are seen everywhere on the women's fashion magazines. This time around the trend has jumped towards the male counterpart. For Fall/Winter 2011, leopard print shoes would make its grand entrance and roam the street in a big way; proven that animal print is not only for the fairer sex, but in fact it's a unisex appeal.

Currently Fav Theme: Tan & Cream

YSL ipad case, Uniqlo crochet stripe tie, SEED leather tote bag

My currently fav theme - the combo between tan and cream, coupled with a hint of black. Always chic. Always delish to look at. Always invite drool to others around me too...

And they say, if it ain't broke, why fix it? So, that's why I love to carry and wear this combo so many times these days. (they're accessories, no need to bother thinking about washing 'em in the first place too, right?)

Etc... Etc... A Little Bit French: Part 3

S
I think I have to bow to the fact that K-Pop is indeed huge in this country. In fact that's what I have to go thru when I went back to my hometown every now and then. It's K-Pop everywhere - on the tele, in the PC, on the magazine - coz my nieces back home are massive K-Pop fans without a doubt. They can even speak and write Korean, all just by learning through the Korean movies they saw on tv. See, how influential does the Oriental thing nowadays. Even Givenchy and Louis Vuitton also succumbed to the Oriental look when they did their Spring/Summer collection this year.

Mentioning K-Pop, I saw one band on NTV the other day as suddenly their music video appeared amidst the typical English songs the channel played during the wee hours. I don't really hear to any Far Eastern musics coz I don't understand the language at all, except for Rain since he used to appear in MTV USA a couple of years back. (It's raining, it's raining... remember that?). But this boyband suddenly got my attention at that instant. It was whoa... Actually not really about the song - but one of them wearing a YSL t-shirt! For real? A K-Pop singer wears YSL... no way!

Btw, the boyband is Super Junior. You might be surprised to see there's a lot of members in it. Probably the whole class of 2010, ahaks! I wonder how would they share the profit? Hmmmm...

p/s: if I form a boyband (or manband), would I go for the name Super Senior then? ngggkkk....

Look closer, and you can definitely spot it. It looks like the YSL tee in the pix, though the 'Y' on SuJu is more to inverted Eiffel tower. Btw, I think me and K-Pop share something similar there: going a little bit French. =)

Totally Nude

S
It's time to be bold and be bare. The neutral takes its reign again for Spring/Summer 2011 after in previous seasons making a bit of a talked-about trend both in womenswear and menswear. It seems that the hue is becoming a major fad and nonetheless would be another 'seasonless' thing to watch out. And to keep.

As a continuation, the neutral family - beige, taupe, sand and flesh tone... they gonna take the nude color trend into the next level undoubtedly.

How can I do nude? Accessories wise, I mean... ha! (what are you thinking?)

Object of Lust: Tell Me Y...

S
No need explanation. These bags are to die for. One for the guys, the leather weekender looks so luscious in the neutral tone buttery-soft leather. Very practical and luxe, the Y pattern on the center truly screams the icon of the luxury fashion house.

Another one is for the ladies - the neo-iconic YSL bag, the Muse, given a denim fabric to suit for Spring/Summer collection. Quite oversized and roomy, it is really another practical bag to carry with you during the hot summer days.

Aren't they bags to lust for? Then tell me Y...

The Overnight Bag

S
For two consecutive weeks late last month I did my weekend break outside the comfort of my own home. I can say that in this new year 2011, I hardly went away from the vicinity of my house due to so many commitments in hands. The big university events that I'm chairing, the classes I have to handle, the errands here and there - really, finding a suitable time just to go for a quick weekend break is truly a big luxury, if it's any.

And suddenly I got a call from my uncle from the other side of the Titiwangsa, asking me to come home for my cousin's wedding. Well, I actually demanded him to call me personally to invite me to come to the event, otherwise it's not worth if it just my mum who broke the news to me instead. (I'm so mischeavous divo, huh?). So, voila... he called me one night and the next week, after about 6 hours driving, cutting thru the hills and passing thru the big lake, alas I'm in Newcastle for the wedding fiesta. (Oh, Newcastle as in Kota Bharu, okay...ahaks). I just stayed overnight where the next day I have to rush home instantly. Seeing my quick exit from the house, my 100-year-old grandma asked, "you came home just to attend the wedding?". Umm, yes... and she added "ohh.. you're such a good boy!!" *big grin*

And then the next week, I went for another weekend break in KL area. I was having a meeting at the Twin Tower that morning and it lasted to the late noon. I decided not to go home, but to stay overnight at my sis in Sepang. And of course to see my nephew and niece, who can't get enough of me and always make me their climbing tree as usual!

Oh, what's the point of writing those actually? It's about quick travel and overnight stay, which is I'm not so good at when it comes to packing my stuff. I always fail in that sense. Every time I brought home my travelling bag, my niece always say "banyak giler barang utk 2 hari?! (there's a lot of stuff for just 2 days?!)". It's so true coz I normally put in so many clothes to give some choices. That doesn't include all the gadgets as well... it's manic. But thank goodness, the size of my bag can still manage to fill all those stuff in (or otherwise I bring another bags if it's not enough, and that's why banyak giler barang!!).

Anyway, what bag would you choose to bring with you? Travel backpack or duffel bag? Designer or highstreet? Leather, canvas or techno-fabric? Whatever it is, the people at Mr. Porter have chosen for the classic duffel overnight bag for a touch of class. From Gucci to Bottega Veneta, Mulberry to Lanvin... those who have a big wallet could definitely grab those. As for those who are . . .erm. . .skint, plastic bags can also do! :)

p/s: I'm thinking of another weekend break. Where would I go?

Chelsea Boots: What's Your Choice?

S
Chelsea boots. It's the best of all footwear that any man could wear. A quick one to slip in too since there's no need to mess around with the laces. I, myself have more than 15 pairs of Chelsea boots - and I think they're the best investment for the support of down under. I think wearing a pair of Chelsea boots benefits in many ways: 1. there won't be any trouble of people stepping the back of the shoes when you walk unlike if you wear loafers or lace-ups. 2. you can easily fix the 'trousers length-to-shoe' issue, a problem that I sometimes encounter if the pants is too long that the end gathers too much on the ankle side - so, wearing Chelsea boots can easily fix that. 3. They're versatile since it can go both ways, casual or formal. And 4.Wearing boots will make you look rock'n roll. Definitely!

With so many Chelsea boots out there, which would be your choice?

... But Dude, Where's My iPad? : Part 5

S
Could today be the day that all technogeeks would rejoice when iPad2 will finally be released after months of speculation on how the specs gonna be? Thinner, lighter, speed bump, dual camera and yadda, yadda, yadda? I hope so... though the latest rumor from an insider saying that iPad 2 launch isn’t the one that we should be getting excited about, instead we should reserve our enthusiasm for the iPad 3, which is apparently due later this year. Is it? Why? Coz THAT is gonna be one major redesign of the beloved tablet. Reduction in overall size, I suppose?

Anyway. Reserve our excitement or not, we all gotta see what iPad2 has in store for us first before we could make any more judgment.  Then from there on we can lust over or dream of getting a newer version of iPad - the iPad Mini - to compliment this bigger sibling after its launch today. To be hones,t it's kinda tiring to read all these rumors after these months - and I can't wait to see the real thing when it hit the conference later. Oh btw, I did call Apple store to ask whether I can reserve the new iPad2, but their answer "we haven't get any instruction from Apple yet to do that..". Errks... I know I'm being too eager too early!

So, for the final installment in the countdown towards the unveiling of iPad 2, I'm bringing you the mother of all iPad cases. Well, sort of coz this one is from a major fashion house. Introducing the Yves Saint Laurent iPad folder in a very chic, shiny patent leather. If you happen to read my previous post, (the one with Harper's Bazaar clipping) you must've noticed that YSL has previously released an iPad folder under their CHYC version in smooth leather. Yet I think this one looks much better, with an embossed, stitched-detail 'YSL' logo to feed your inner conspicuous in you.

What I like about this one is how the gadget would be filled inside - i.e. thru the cutout slot like seen in Burberry and Dior Homme. Inside it is lined with suede, while having tabs to secure it in a folded state.

Oh, wait. Why am I showing you the pix that is already being shown everywhere in the blogosphere? That's not very 'original', don't you think? Thankfully I have other photos to show... since I got one myself. Say hellooo to my YSL patent leather iPad case. Ha!

If you read my previous tweet you might've seen a glimpse of it. Where to get this beauty? Probably at any YSL store, but I got mine from Net-a-Porter.

Wait...! Before you click the e-shopping website yourself, I have to tell you the bad news though. This iPad case has already sold out since they have very, very limited stock. Yes, right after I purchase it, they're totally gone! Gone in 60 seconds!  So, I think I'm among the lucky ones to have it (but unlucky to my bank balance...yikes!).

Anyhow... you can still get other iPad case out there in the market - but none can match this beauty! :P

Still, one thing's missing: dude, where's my iPad2? I'm ready to get one!
