ES Style: The Biker, The Woolly and The Peacoat...

S
Must-haves for autumn/winter 2010 - biker jacket, rugged knitwear and an overcoat - are featured in the previous issues of ES Magazine. I have to say it (again) I am a big fan of biker jackets, especially those which has a great snuggly fit and asymmetric zipper. It's true classic that has been in seasons now when it comes to autumn trend. In fact, Burberry tried to reprise their presence for next Spring/Summer in the form of studded collection.

Also in the line is rugged knitwear that looks cosy especially during out in the woods in the heavy winter. Pair it with hiking boots, you're definitely ready to conquer Ben Nevis, or at least Scafell Pike in Cumbria. And to add to the flair when you return to the city, peacoat as shown during Burberry FW2010/11 looks perfectly cut and suits any gentlemen who wanna look smart when you hit the street. If you dare, turn up the collars so it'll give that extra va va voom to the whole ensemble.

ES Style: The Gekko, The Boho & The Italiano...

S

Gekko's back. Well, not just to the cinema as in Money Never Sleeps but to the trend in the office as well. We're talking about the classic 3ps (three-piece suit) for the urban warrior that roams the financial districts like Canary Wharf or Threadneedle Street, though this time the silhouette is more slim than just regular fit. I love the steel grey theme on the first lookbook which looks so chic and modern.

Another style for the season is the bohemian look, synonymous with injection of quirky colors into the outfit like this one with purple. I'm not really digging into corduroy pants coz they're not that easy to take care of. I got a corduroy jacket once but have to give it away since when I fold it, the fabric really took the 'folding stain' (you know, the creases, the pleats due to folding). So, not good. But adding color to the wardrobe - that's cool.

Another look is for the laidback gents in the city. What is more elegent than a typical Italian suits, right? Very suave even in it nonchalance. This is what I love wearing when I'm not feeling too flamboyant - a big, understated scarf + unbuttoned, slim blazer + sombre color. And complete it with a pair of boots. Easy and comfy. :)

Boyfriend Beauty?

S

Now that we're in the new milennium, in the new Teenies (that's 2010s for you lot), grooming is no longer becoming a thing in the past. No longer you have to secretly sneak out to buy that facial cleanser. Or be totally discreet when you came home with a moisturizer in your grocery bag. Or hiding behind a newspaper just to slap on those lipgloss for your chappy lips. In fact, now that the world has become so competitive where jobmarket out there is like a warzone by itself, men has to look as equally put together and presentable as the fairer sex do.

So guys, 'cleaning' up yourself is so the vital thing. It's time to groom ourselves : get those hideous nasal hair out of sight, zap those zits out from the T-zone, turn that puffy eyes to puppy one and put on those moisturizer to turn back time... coz it's time for us to take the 'revenge' too!

In the meantime, read this article from the Evening Standard...

It's great to see the menswear lookbook make a regular visit again in the ES Magazine. From the nautical inspired theme for late summer, to the layering and opulent dandy for autumn look... Very inspiring.

Get The London Look!

S

Ever wonder how the London girls dress? Well, fyi London is divided into 32 administrative boroughs (much like districts) which consists of Inner London and Outer London. From Enfield up north to Croydon at down south, Hillingdon on the far west to Barking & Dagenham in the east (Dagenham, as in the latest movie - Made in Dagenham). Yet, to most Londoners we always identify ourselves to just North, South, East and West Londoners (ooh, look.. I use the word 'we'..ahaks!). And people from each part of London dress quite differently from one another.

For example, if I see someone that look very street and sometime quite artistic (some even look chav, no offence), then I can identify them as the East London people. Or someone that look quite posh, he/she may come from the West since Notting Hill and Kensington are located somewhere around there. Or people who tend to look rock'n'roll glam in designer/street combo, well... most probably they hailed from the North (think Kate Moss, Amy Winehouse, Jamie Hince). From the south, anything can go ... but most look kinda boho chic since there's a huge 'melting pot' community living in that area like the Caribbean and South American as well as some African too.

Me? I'm from North London. That's why rocking in skinnies and mix-and-matching with designer/highstreet is what we do best. Ahaks!

Read on the article from ES Magazine in the previous Fashion Issue to have a glimpse on how the girls of London put their outfit together. All I can say, for men - it's not so much different either. :)

Chase Crawford in ES Magazine

Chase Crawford in the previous issue of ES Magazine.
I love the mood of the photoshoot;
quite nostalgic, and a cross between Eastenders and cool Spitalfields ambience.
L:o:v:e the hairstyle, given with a dash of vampish stare.
