it starts with a rainbow

S
Fashion post postponed - all colours of the rainbow were literally in the sky today. New year, I already like you.

2011 is here

Happy
New
Year!
it's gonna be a great one;)

on the xmas tree

S
Fact: oldskool glass ornaments reflect light like no other. Diamond effect is a bonus. Fashionably (very) late, I started dressing my Christmas tree for the occassion. If I go on like this, it's gonna sparkle enough to be visible from a satellite. It's still pink. How's yours?

Saturday night Metalla

S
Elias Fragoulis and Ino Mei promised Metalla would be a night of casualties. Count me among those down. I'm still hurting from last night - not sure if it was too much dancing or too much laughing that got me in the end. Turns out their ruthless djing brought trash* music fanatics and metal headbangers closer, under a shower of carnations (!?!) as well as... the threat of an enormous sword. Had to see to believe.
*some stongly insisted it was classics.

No wait, flash killed the projection. Here:
Weapons of choice. (They do hurt if target is unprepared)
Swing Bar floor as you've never seen it before:
Had forgotten how much I like this mix of Nirvana vs Rick Astley. Kept 100% of the house happy - although I've got the feeling half was dancing to one part of the mix and the rest to the other.
Smells like never gonna give you up.

Sunday run

S
So you have a great Saturday night at a music festival and you end up sleeping over at someone else's place. Happens often or sometimes. But. It's not often when this someone is an avid runner and is going for Nike Run 10k in the morning. Oh-oh:)(Apparently bananas are the thing to eat after a long run or intense exercise)
(Thought these two had style. Go stylish runners. - actually they were good athletes too)
Beautiful setting, morning spent in nature, lively music and athletic people ready to run like the wind in high spirits. Kids playing in the sun, dogs chasing batterflies, kinda like a tv spot. Plus participants win cool Nike Run gifts. Great.

Not so great:
you are still wearing the shoes you wore last night - you haven't been home yet, remember? a) you get the look and you deserve it, b) you fear for your life walking on that ground in these shoes and c) shoes look this dirty once you're out of there. On top, you are also wearing jeans thus you can't go chasing batterflies too whilst everybody else is sweating for a new record. That's fail x 2.
Outfit hazard aside, it was a fun event, promoting health and fitness and suggesting an alternative to all wasted Sunday mornings sitting (snoozing) at the sofa, doing nothing. Happy I ended up there after all. I might even go for it next time, just to be a part of this.

*Runner I went to cheer for made an excellent finish. Respect.

Parking Wall

S
Photobucket
This is what the parking's wall at Karitsi Square, Athens, looks like these days. Any idea what's it for? Haven't got a clue but I like the colour on this massive block of cement.

Olga Mergou's anticrisis managment

S
No way.
If only I had this clutch last Sunday.

Olga Mergou is presenting her anti-crisis series at WhiteBox on November 27th and promises a strong dose of anti-crisis management. Olga, you had us at hello:)

Alecca is two

S
I didn't have a birthday cake. If I did though, it would look like this, created ideally by the hands of someone like Jenny. (hope it's thick chocolate fudge inside)

This blog has been around for two whole years now.
This blog is now two.

Update 11/09/10:
Thought on the cake: I wouldn't walk around in Chanel total looks but in this case, I wouldn't mind eating them.

Also: [space reserved for the little blog 'birthday' speech I am supposed to be making. It will come up when the words in my brain go in the right order]

Words always in the right order: this blog would only be half as special to me had it not been for all of you special people reading it.

Spending too much time online lately?
Got just the tee for you.

Surfing & surfing

S
The other day these kids shook the beach with their invention, a surf board dragged by a fishing boat. They were giggling for hours, falling off, stirring the water. Looked like so much fun! Which reminded me...
...about a lifetime ago, I've had a taste in San Sebastian, though the waves were no fishing boat (have never drunk so much sea water -possibly small fish too!- in my life).

Didn't care much about what we wore as long as it took us to the beach. Well, life's got humour: these days surfing to me is being online, posting about clothes.

Where have I put that boogie board I wonder.

August comes in colours

S
In case you are starting August on top of a suit-case about to load and go, I suggest you pack it with colours. We've had enough grey and all shades of 'dull' walking around during last winter and most likely we'll have them again. I packed a rainbow and I'm glad.
Happy, sunny August, wherever you are.

At the port before too long

S
I'm leaving the city behind me once again much sooner than I thought - this summer is full of surprises. Work has come with me and I'm currently re-living the 90s with dial -up, but I can't complain! Hope you're all close to holiday too. Till then, stick around for more summer posts from somewhere in the Aegean.

cool(er) beach bag

S
West Coast Cooler has boarded the Greek summer by taking as many fash-bloggers as a Golden Class projection room could fit, for SATC 2. This wine made a point about being inspired by girlie bonds but it's not all about style you can only watch in a movie (and afford in a dream). To put this in a picture, WCC created a beach bag full of colourful summer essentials and had it at our doorstep. It was like the Irish myth about a treasure at the end of a rainbow, only I get to keep the rainbow too. And got something fruity and fat free to toast with. Sweet.

Striped 'n' Buttoned

S
Parcels like this have been travelling across Athens lately (I suppose they'd go further if they were asked to). What are they? They are Stripes 'n' Buttons goodness. Mine is a sunflower boutonniere I fell in love with whilst reading her blog a while ago.
It arrived in a handmade cotton case, double the joy. Have known the girl who is S'n'B for quite a few years now, but this talent of hers was something I came to discover just like you, through her posts. The minute she made the first item was like opening Pandora's box, no turning back for her, no stopping her!
I went for a yellow one to brighten my days/nights/outfits. The result has such a feel-good vibe, planning to put it in action soon.
The S'n'B signature buttoned bow at the back. This clever bird marks her territory. Like. This clever bird is also in Barcelona and about to start reporting on Primavera Music Festival. Envy.

Loving my sunflower Stripes'n'Buttons, hope you're having a sunny trip yourself!

May starts with James

S

James, live in Patra, Greece (full story at Stop That Sound).
Crowd singing could knock those walls down.
What I wore, doesn't matter. What he wore, he told Battered Couture the next day in Athens.
