FWA - day3, Katerina Alexandraki

S
Katerina Alexandraki's show was themed "...art, nature and freedom..." Daisy petals were placed on the models lashes and scattered on the catwalk by a little girl at the beginning whereas the clothes were inspired by paintings hanging on the walls of museums around the world. Front row goodies: Katerina Alexandraki hairbands/brooches featuring a rose made out of fabric.

FWA - day2, people

S
I thought this time I am gonna get it right. I am going to wear something loose and comfy, yet "designer" and interesting. So I went for my Katerina Alexandraki dress from the "Supermarket" collection (s/s 09). Heavy elastic cotton was perfect for hardcore catwalk attending and the frilled back -not visible here- gave it just the fashion twist I wanted. My H&M booties kept me on my feet for hours and battled bravely with the brick grounds of Technopolis and instead of a handbag I took my Eastpak mini-bag from the DRKSDW collection. No stylistic excitement, but it wasn't me who had to stylisticly excite:)

People I came across:
Designers Frida Karadima and Dimitris Strepkos (1/2 of Celebrity Skin) showing off his new tatoo. If there was an Oscar for catwalk commentating I'd give it to Strepkos, hands down.

Fashion blogger Christiana from Fashion Paths shooting some excellent pictures from the front row.

Alfredo Saltiel, in charge of the showroom of Katerina Alexandraki and the brand Julia Bergovich right above the "Night Boutique".

Sooo..! boutique opening party

S
It was quite a glamorous opening tonight for Katerina Alexandraki's first Sooo..! boutique. Mini cocktails were coming and going, a wave of Athenean celebrities was rubbing shoulders with guests and after the catwalk show, the collection was available to touch and shop. Loud music kept the spirits high outside while inside models and customers were coming in and out of the fitting rooms. This is a quick post of pictures I managed to shoot towards the end of the night. I'm sooo tired right now... proper photo-report & video coming soon!

(Below: Katerina Alexandraki wearing her shoe-fringe, parts of the collection, the limited edition flower pin-hats -I'm wearing one too- and special touches that got my attention).

Sooo..! Cocktail anyone?

S
Oh yes! Wouldn't want to be anywhere else tonight. Katerina Alexandraki is celebrating her newly founded line Sooo..! as well as the opening of her first boutique by throwing a cocktail & catwalk party!

Her Autumn/Winter line, “Thrill”, will be officially presented for the first time and from the samples I've seen so far, it's going to be this season's thrill indeed.

Catwalk, cointreaupolitans, late night shopping (Alexandraki's limited edition hats will be available too!), lights, models and plenty of surprises... sounds like a hard-to-miss party. The invite features a hand-written message by the designer herself and the stamp reads "Berlin", her favourite destination and source of inspiration. You don't need one to show up though. Everybody is welcome so start getting ready! Event starts at 19:00 and the boutique is located at 145 Iroon Politechniou str in Kato Halandri (more info here). However, some lucky guests did receive the invite along with a very generous goody bag containing:

1. Various products of Lavera (Biological Beauty Care from Germany)
2. A PennyPrice AromaTherapy booklet
3. A MAC card to be used for a free make up in the store of MAC in Golden Hall, any day till the 30th of November
4. A discount card for the Cake Stores all around town
5. A discount card of the Sooo..! Boutique
6. A beautiful hat-pin straight from the A/W Sooo..! Katerinalexandraki pret a porter collection.

A couple of months ago I visited Alexandraki's stand at the Premium exhibition in Berlin. I inspected her collection for Spring/Summer 10 piece by piece. Unfortunatelly that has to stay under wraps for the time being but you can get an idea from the pictures below. Katerina also took the time to answer some of my questions for you:

Alecca Rox: What is the theme of your collection for SS10?
Katerina Alexandraki: Sooo.. art, nature and freedom..! it's a turn towards being carefree, playful, innosence and nature. It consists of girlie looks with motifs inspired by great painters of surrealism.

AR: What's Berlin to you?
KA: As the mayor of Berlin once said: "Berlin is poor.., but sexy!". I had some great moments here. I have fallen in love, got inspired and met people that have helped me become a better person, made me see things from a different angle. I'd say Berlin is my second home, a warm cuddle, a dose of adrenaline, an oxygen mask. Ich bin ein Berliner..!

AR: What are you bringing back from this trip?
KA: The journey is more important than the destination. I am keeping all the precious moments with old friends and associates and I am welcoming new ones into my life. Also moments I spent alone, reflecting. I'll never forget this trip as it started the day the king of pop Michael Jackson passed away. I am dedicating it to him.

Now you know a bit more about Katerina Alexandraki through the lines of this blog. Why not drop by tonight's party and meet her in person? I'll be there. If you spot me, do nudge me and say hello! See you in a few hours.

Sooo by Katerina Alexandraki

S
Katerina Alexandraki, one of the coolest new gen designers in town, has just announced a new line: Sooo...by Katerinalexandraki. She says "Times are changing, Sooo… is Katerina Alexandraki!" It was a natural result of her trips abroad, discovery of new markets, lifestyles and materials. It is all about positive enery and being yourself. The debut collection for AW 09 is themed “...2 thrill in circles + frills” and will be presented at FEMMINA prêt a porter (20-22 June) in Athens and in PREMIUM, Berlin Fashion Week (July).

London's party last night

S
Sofokleous str. in Peristeri was unusually lively last night. At number 9, London Fashion Store was holding a party inside the store as well as out on the street. Cocktails, beats & late night shopping: perfect for a warm May evening.

London Fashion is a boutique, in the '60s sense of the term. Someone once said about BiBa in London: "you'd go there to see the latest fashions, avant gard design, listen to music, talk about fashion and hang out". LF puts me in that sort of mood. The merchandise is a very carefully selected blend of new generation Greek designers and fresh brands from abroad, both womenswear and menswear. Unless you live in the neighbourhood, this store to this day is one of the best kept secrets of fashion's young & restless.

In their own words: "London Fashion is an idea, that Eugenia and Kostis came up with. It started as one of those plans that everyone makes for the future, on the first day of 2007. In less than one year, this excited idea became reality, thanks to our willingness never to give up" - London Fashion blog

Great aesthetics: everything seems to be so carefully placed.

Vintage wooden closet turned into a lit display unit. Just like sneaking into a dream wardrobe.

Moi, stunned by Kostis' fab newspaper dress. Creativity blossoms.

Kostis, the other half of London Fashion, showing off his band new tatoo.

quotes:
*"Letter pie (π) stands for 3,14. It is a stable (constant) number and connotates my name: Konstantinos, Constant" - Kostis. Somehow the sight of a Greek letter tatooed really got me. The fact that there's a story behind it too was a bonus.

*"This dress is making love to your body" - Noideawho. He meant it really suits her. Styling commentary doesn't have to be boring.

Katerinalexandraki - Bazaar

S
Today, at Katerina Alexandraki's Spring bazaar:

The designer with model Evi Adam (totally casual, no make-up, and still looking this good. Amazing.)

Costume designer Marli Aleiferi sporting a Katerinalexandraki tee she later took home.

"Anglomania" golden invite spotted at Katerina's atelier. Obviously she's going.

This dress was love at first sight. Added it to my wardrobe a few hours ago.

Make-up artist/hair stylist Apollonia B. was there too. In this shot, posing with accessories' designer Erifili's earring, wearing Katerinalexandraki SS 09.

Erifili's plexi-bangles.
